As many of you are aware, Karri often runs #KarriCares collections in aid of certain causes and charities. Recently a collection was brought to our attention through Paarl Girls High School to raise funds for a 14-year-old girl named Kira Godfrey who is currently living with Scoliosis.
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty. While scoliosis can be caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, the cause of most scoliosis is unknown.
On 6th May 2019, Kira underwent life-altering surgery to straighten her spine, which has a curvature over 60 degrees. The cost of the operation including post-operation therapy required far outweighed the parents and medical aid contribution and there is an estimated outstanding cost of around R600,000.
Here at Karri, we passionately believe in giving back to our community. With over 500 schools now using Karri, we have a database of tens of thousands of parents at our fingertips, allowing us together to be able to make a huge impact.
Please consider setting up a donation style collection for Kira. Should your school set up a collection in aid of Kira Godfrey and her Scoliosis Journey, we have arranged that no Karri fee will be charged to your collection.
To create a collection, simply click on “Create Collection” shown in the #KarriCares campaign for Kira posted on the Karri dashboard If you can’t see this collection on your dashboard please contact Emma directly on 082 430 1357 or via email and we will add the collection to your school dashboard.
